With a focus on serving highly intelligent machine perception and cognition systems, combining data-driven and knowledge-guided approaches, and utilizing structured and unstructured data, we conduct research in the fields of data intelligence, computational intelligence, and intelligent information systems. Our aim is to develop new approaches in artificial intelligence based on data as the foundation and computation as the means.

The main research areas include semantic representation of multimodal data such as sequential data, natural language, and image data; intelligent perception, semantic analysis, and mining of complex system states; management (knowledge graph, etc.), representation learning (graph neural networks, etc.), and mining of large-scale graph-structured data; knowledge extraction and reasoning; computational intelligence theories and methods (Fireworks Algorithm, etc.); reinforcement learning and multi-agent systems; as well as the development of application systems in data intelligence and computational intelligence industries.

In recent years, we have undertaken over 20 national, provincial, international cooperation, and industry-funded research projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program, National Natural Science Foundation Key Projects, and original exploration projects. We have published over 100 academic papers in top-tier journals and conferences in this field and authored six monographs. We have received numerous awards, including one second prize of the Natural Science Award from the Ministry of Education, two second prizes of the Beijing Natural Science Award, one second prize of the CCF Natural Science Award, and two Best Research Paper Awards. We have established joint laboratories with Alibaba Group, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Aviation Industry Corporation, State Grid Corporation of China, the Traffic Management Center of the Ministry of Transport, Beijing Municipal Commission of City Administration and Environment, Beijing Municipal Bureau of City Management and Law Enforcement, China Mobile Communications Group, Huawei, and others. We actively serve national major needs and local economic development.
