Intelligent Graphics and Interaction is a discipline that focuses on digitizing, simulating, displaying high-fidelity worlds, and interacting with them naturally. It is widely applied in digital content creation and information visualization. With the rapid development of related fields such as digital twins, embodied intelligence, and AIGC, it has become a fundamental technology of artificial intelligence.

The main research areas include geometric representation, dynamic simulation, realistic rendering, data visualization, and human-computer interaction methods and techniques for modeling, simulation, presentation, and interaction with the real world. This field is based on computer graphics, visualization, and human-computer interaction, complemented by cognitive disciplines such as computer vision and language. It also integrates with psychology, robotics, machine learning, virtual/augmented reality, and other professional domains, making it one of the core directions driving the development of artificial intelligence.

The research in this field has received support from dozens of national, provincial, international cooperation, and industry projects, including national key research and development programs, National Basic Research Program (973 Program), National Natural Science Foundation major and key projects, and more. The related achievements have been published in top conferences and journals in the fields of computer graphics, computer vision, and machine learning, with hundreds of papers and dozens of patent applications. In the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the achievements of the national key R&D program "Science and Technology Winter Olympics," undertaken by this field, were exhibited as representative results of the Science and Technology Winter Olympics program in the Beijing Olympic Village "Beijing House" and directly used for the global broadcast of the Winter Paralympic ice hockey competition. The related achievements "Theory and Methods of 3D Reconstruction Based on Mid-level Geometric Structures" won the first prize in the 2020 CCF Nature Science Awards, and "Efficient Generation, Analysis, and Manufacturing of Complex 3D Shapes" won the first prize in the 2020 Shandong Province Natural Science Awards. The team has received numerous honors and awards from various international academic organizations and conferences, including IEEE Fellow, IEEE Visualization Academy, and the Best Paper Award from ACM SIGGRAPH (Asia), among others.
