Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a technology that uses computers as tools to process and manipulate various forms of human language, including written and spoken language. It is an important discipline in the fields of computer science and artificial intelligence, and it intersects with disciplines such as linguistics, psychology, neuroscience, robotics, and machine learning. NLP is one of the core tasks in achieving general artificial intelligence. The goal of NLP research is to develop general-purpose techniques for natural language processing that exhibit high accuracy, efficiency, robustness, interpretability, and adaptability in low-resource and multimodal environments.

The main research topics include: natural language semantic analysis techniques, large-scale pre-trained language models, and their semantic representation methods, which are fundamental tasks in natural language processing; information extraction, knowledge graph construction, sentiment analysis, and opinion mining, which are tasks in natural language understanding; document summarization, text generation, and cross-modal content generation, which are tasks in natural language generation; question answering, dialogue systems, and multimodal interaction, which are tasks in natural language and multimodal interaction; and innovative technology development for text mining, intelligent knowledge services, and machine writing in application domains.
